Day 2 of The Open Championship 2024 ended with Shane Lowry in the lead. The 37-year-old Irish golfer shot a 2-under 69 on Friday, July 19, to retake the lead at the major. He led Justin Rose and Daniel Brown by two shots.

Round 3 of The Open Championship will begin at 3:55 am ET on Saturday, July 20. Darren Fichardt and amateur Tommy Morrison will take the first tee. The pairing of Guido Migliozzi and Max Homa will follow suit at 4:05 am, while Shubhankar Sharma and Sungjae Im will follow them at 4:15 am.

Notably, leader Lowry will enjoy a late tee-off alongside Brown. The duo will take their first tee at 10:45 am ET, 10 minutes after the pairing of Bill Horschel and Justin Rose.

Event favorite Scottie Scheffler gained some places in the leaderboard on Friday and sat T4 at the end of round 2. The world no.1 golfer will resume his campaign at 10:25 am alongside LIV Golf’s Dean Burmester.

Notably, The Open Championship underwent the traditional 36-hole cut on Friday. The cutline of 6-over 148 or better, saw over 70 golfers leave the Royal Troon early. Golfers like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Tyrrell Hatton, Tommy Fleetwood, Ludvig Aberg, Tony Finau, and Cameron Smith crashed out of the competition.

Recently inducted Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley and US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau were among the notable names to miss the weekend at the $17,000,000 prize event.
