“These clowns think it’s about them” - Fans slam commentators alleging about Tiger Woods’ health during the Open Championship

Fans slam commentators alleging about Tiger Woods’ health during the Open Championship

The Open Championship commentators have more than a few times remarked on Tiger Woods' health. It's no secret that Woods isn't in the best health and is getting older, but it seems that this is the primary talking point for the Open's broadcast team.

Woods hasn't performed well in his starts this year. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational for health reasons and made the cut but finished dead last at the Masters. He has missed the cut in the last two Majors as well, and part of the reason is the wear and tear it has on his body.

Nevertheless, the commentary got the attention of many golf fans, and most of them took issue with how Woods was covered during his first round.

"They suck. Who is the woman announcer? Has she not been paying attention to Tiger’s situation? How can she question why he didn’t play last week saying it’s not that tough to play two straight weeks. Tiger has said it is near impossible for him to do that. They are terrible," one bashed.
"Took the words right out of my mouth. When he was -1, they were talking like he was +4," another said.
"And Mark Roe talking about Tiger's eyes and him taking pain killers…quite the accusation!" another exclaimed.
"The lady is a hater and one of the guys talking bout you can tell Tiger is on painkillers, what are we doing here. This is insane," one added.

Fans haven't appreciated how the Open Championship's broadcast has talked about Tiger Woods and others during the first round.

How is Tiger Woods doing at the Open Championship?

As one fan alluded to in the above reactions, the announcement team had many believing that Tiger Woods was struggling mightily at the Open Championship. That's not quite the case.

At the time of writing, Woods had played five holes and was two over par. That's not ideal, but he was briefly under par and is still within the cut range. Since the Open keeps the top 70 and ties, Woods is firmly within the right range as of now.
