Bernd Wiesberger posted this Friday (June 7), on his personal X account, that the PGA Tour keeps him banned from participating in its tournaments even though he no longer belongs to LIV Golf. The post has received several reactions from fans, with varying comments.

Wiesberger posted the following text, in response to a previous post:

"Same here. Just received a letter by the pgat banning me from playing the ISCO and Barracuda. Never been a member either. Who knows what’s going on over there"

Many fans have reacted by criticizing the PGA Tour for penalizing a player who is not a member of their organization. Other fans have claimed that the players who went to LIV Golf knew that situations like this would happen and still decided to take that step.

One X user posted the following:

"What a joke….the PGAT continue to make themselves look bad!"

The Flushing It account, which provides coverage of world golf, posted the following:

"As full DP World Tour members, it’s a complete joke that their “strategic” partner would sanction them like this. Especially when players like Bernd Wiesberger have settled all fines and suspensions and fully committed to the DP World Tour and were never PGA Tour members"

Let's take a look at other reactions on X:

"Sounds like negotiations are going really well," one fan posted.
"Why is this a surprise and an issue? all you do is complain. This was known to all but yet these posts keep creeping up. They said they would not allow and they have why would it change now there is no agreement. This could change should that happen," another user wrote.
"The PGA tour is a terrible, relic, monopolization organization. They use scare tactics and back stabbing. It,s all good though they are digging there own graves," another fan posted.

This action by the PGA Tour against Bernd Wiesberger indicates that the tour maintains its zero-tolerance policy for LIV Golf even though it is conducting negotiations with LIV's main sponsor, the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, a year after announcing a so-called “framework agreement.”

The PGA Tour established a rule that prohibits any player from participating in its tournaments if they participate in “unauthorized events,” including LIV Golf events. These players will only be allowed to enter a PGA Tour field one year after the last “unauthorized tournament” in which they participated.

The rule became effective at the start of the 2022-2023 season and remains in effect.

When can Bernd Wiesberger play on the PGA Tour again?

Bernd Wiesberger has never been a member of the PGA Tour, as his career has been spent almost entirely on the European Tour. However, over the years, he has occasionally played events on the American circuit.

Bernd Wiesberger played for two seasons in LIV Golf (2022 and 2023) as part of the Cleeks GC team. In the breakaway league, he participated in 20 tournaments with an 8th place finish at the 2022 LIV Golf Jeddah as his best result.

After the 2023 season, he finished 41st in the league ranking, which gave him the possibility to renegotiate his contract, either with Cleeks GC or with another team. However, Bernd Wiesberger decided to leave LIV Golf and return to the DP World Tour.

His last appearance in LIV Golf was at the 2023 Team Championship, which was played from October 20-22, 2023. Therefore, Bernd Wiesberger can play on the PGA Tour in October 2024.
