Spanish player Eugenio Chacarra has ended his time with LIV Golf after his contract with Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC team was not renewed. Chacarra decided not to seek a new contract with the breakaway league and will instead try to make it to the PGA Tour.
The 24-year-old gave an interview to the X (formerly Twitter) Flushing It account (@flushingitgolf) on Friday, January 10, in which he commented on his experience with LIV Golf. In his words, Chacarra included both gratitude and criticism of the Greg Norman-led league.
This is part of what Eugenio Chacarra had to say:
"When I joined LIV they promised OWGR and majors. But it didn't happen. I trusted them. I was the first young guy, then the others came after I made the decision. But OWGR and majors still hasn’t happened."
A topic that Chacarra also touched on was the role that money plays in LIV Golf. He said:
"On LIV, nothing changes, there is only money. It doesn’t matter if you finish 30th or first, only money. I’m not a guy who wants more money. What will change my life is playing in Hawaii and qualifying for the majors, qualifying for the Masters, the Ryder Cup."
Still, Chacarra was grateful for the opportunity to play in Greg Norman's league:
"I’m thankful for everything LIV has given me. I’m 24 years old and my life is set. I don’t know if it will work out for the best or not, but I know this is what my heart tells me is right and it works for my motivation to wake up and grind and get better, and to say I can be a PGA Tour player one day."
Chacarra finished the 2024 season ranked 39th in LIV Golf, with only one top 10 finish in 13 individual events. This performance did not mean automatic relegation, but Sergio Garcia decided not to renew his contract.
Chacarra could have looked to sign with another team or play in the Promotions Event to try to regain his place in the ranks of the league. However, none of this happened.
The Spaniard is banned from all PGA Tour events until one year has passed since his last tournament on LIV Golf. This period is slated to end in September 2025. Chacarra can still seek opportunities to play on the European tours.

According to data from National Club Golfers, these results earned Chacarra $18,086,928.
