"This is awesome"; "Not bad" - Fans share initial reactions to first-ever TGL game

Fans on social media shared their initial reactions to the first-ever TGL game held on Tuesday, January 7, at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

In TGL, a tech-infused golf league founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy through TMRW Sports, New York Golf Club (NY) and The Bay Golf Club (BAY) faced each other in the first match. Both teams consist of four players, of which three competed in the match and one was substituted.

For The Bay Golf Club (BAY), Ludvig Åberg, Wyndham Clark, and Shane Lowry competed while Min Woo Lee was substituted. Whereas for New York Golf Club (NY), Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler and Xander Schauffele played while Cameron Young was substituted.

The Bay Golf Club won the match by 9-2 against the Bay Golf Club New York Golf Club. TGL announced their victory on their X page and wrote:

"First TGL winner, @TheBayGolf (fire emoji)"

Fans jumped to the comments section to share their views on the new golf league.

"This is awesome. TGL is fun," a fan wrote.

"That was fun. Looking forward to next week!" another fan commented.

Another team of TGL, Los Angeles Golf Club praised the Bay Golf Club and wrote:

"Not bad @TheBayGolf. Hope yall can bring that same energy on March 3rd!, they wrote.

Meanwhile, some fans also offered suggestions after the first match.

"I liked it. Needs more on screen data and I want to see more golden tee style holes with obstacles and shot shaping but so far I’m a fan," a fan suggested.

"Need to show more shot metrics, maybe a score bug on the screen for each shot to highlight ball speed, swing speed, etc, " another fan wrote.

The next TGL match will be held on Tuesday, January 14 at 7 p.m. ET, Los Angeles Golf Club vs. Jupiter Links Golf Club.

The first TGL match was won by the Bay Golf Club. They took the lead early on and were 6-0 ahead after eight holes. New York Golf Club failed to win a hole until the ninth.
