Bryson DeChambeau sat down for an interview with Joe Pompliano on Saturday to discuss a "mega-project" he had in mind. Fans reacted to the LIV golfer's proposed project, which aims to expand golf and make the sport more accessible.

The LIV Golf star explained his "strategy", saying (via Golf.com):

"I’ve got a strategy right now that I’m implementing that people have heard. It’s a strategy that essentially brings people from off the street, to the driving range, to lessons and then to the golf course."
"It’s a full three-step process, essentially. Getting them to the driving range, getting them lessons and then getting them on the golf course," he added.

Although DeChambeau announced this grand project recently, it appears it had been in the works for quite some time. He has based the project in California for now and is in the middle of getting permits. The 31-year-old also mentioned that he had acquired "massive amounts of land" in his hometown of Modesto.

Some fans considered the ace golfer's idea unoriginal and compared it with First Tee and the IMG Academy. The PGA Tour had started First Tee as a non-profit organization that would help improve children's life skills through golf lessons. The IMG Academy is a preparatory boarding school and sports training center.

One fan wrote:

"It’s called The First Tee man! We are already doing that. Invest in an already existent program doing amazing things already. This isn’t a new idea. I know first hand we helped 10,000 kids a year through the game of golf in Denver."
"It’s called IMG academy.. just changing the name," another fan chimed in.

Some fans dismissed Bryson DeChambeau's idea since golf is an expensive sport that underprivileged people or California residents can't afford.

"Is he talking about homeless/down and out people playing? this just isn't going to work, like at all! They can learn the basics but they can't get free golf for life, free balls for life, etc and golf is just way too expensive for anyone other than the middle class and up to play," one fan wrote.
"People in California are striggling to make ends meet with insane prices of housing, higher tax and some forest fires. So let’s get them into golf. Driving range around $10, lessons at $50/hour and then green fees around $40," another said.

However, some fans supported Bryson DeChambeau's initiative and sent him their best wishes.

"I sincerely hope Bryson is able to pull this off. I want this project of his to be successful." one fan wrote.
"You go, Bryson. Ataboy," another added.

The golfer hoped his project would promote golf and aid in increasing the population of California's Central Valley, especially his hometown. He also mentioned that the "conditional use permit" he was working on getting for his project complex would initially only allow students of his school, 'Clovis Unified School District'.
