Fans on social media have reacted to Callaway's next gen drivers designed to increase speed. The golf equipment company surprised fans on New Year's with their brand-new Elyte and Elyte X drivers.

These drivers are specially designed to increase speed. They are up to 8 yards longer and have a refined shape to enhance performance. Recently, Nuclr Golf shared about the Callaway new driver on its X (formerly Twitter) account, writing:

"Callaway officially unveils its next gen drivers designed for increased speed — the Elyte and Elyte X."

Fans jumped to the comment section to react to the new drivers. However, the reactions were mixed. Some praised it, while others called it "ugly."

"This one will make me better," a fan wrote.
"Ugly as f***," another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, another fan noted there was "no difference" aside from the skin change, while one called it epic.

"no difference same tech just reskinned," a fan jotted.
"The epic is back," another fan said.

All you need to know about Callaway's next gen drivers

Callaway has paid tribute to their founder, Ely Callaway Jr., with their new drivers by launching the Elyte collection. This collection includes four driver models and five fairway woods. The four drivers include Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte Max Fast, and Elyte Triple Diamond.

For the new drivers, Thermoforged carbon is used, speaking of which, Callaway VP of Product Strategy Jacob Davidson said (via Golf.com):

“It came from aerospace and this was really a big challenge for the team because our manufacturing process didn’t support this. So we had to go over and completely retool, solidify the material and build out, an incredible new, manufacturing process for this.”

In addition to that, AI is used in the new lineup along with 3D printing. Davidson also discussed the use of AI in the new lineup, adding:

“But we didn’t have full control over the face last year. There was still some manual blending through simulation. And so the team gathered more data, wrote more thousands of lines of code, took more swing speeds from our partners.”

All the drivers come with adjustable weighting system parameters. The standard Elyte model features neutral, fade, and draw settings, while the Elyte X offers neutral and draw settings. The Triple Diamond model has a weighting system with a heavy front for low spin and a heavy back for enhanced stability. Meanwhile, the Max Fast model only includes a neutral draw setting.

The drivers and fairway woods will be available for purchase later this month, with pre-sales starting on January 17. Speaking of the price, the drivers are priced at approximately $599.99, while the Triple Diamond model is priced at around $649.99.
