Former golfer and golf content creator Paige Spiranac didn't hold back during a YouTube golf and pro golf debate taking place online. It all began when Kyle Porter, a golf commentator, said that YouTube golf is "a lot more fun and entertaining to watch" than the traditional PGA Tour events owing to the former's shorter timespan.

Porter compared YouTube golf to the recently concluded Farmers Insurance Open, which spans several hours. Porter is a former CBS Sports golf writer and the founder of Normal Sport. While many agreed with him, Spiranac criticized the opinion and called for the need for unity rather than division in the golf community.

In response, Porter called the PGA Tour's valuation of $12 billion during Tiger Woods' peak years a "bubble." One of the fans supported his view and remarked "Paige coming after you on this is wild to see." Quoting him, she wrote on X:

"This is wild. My take isn’t that golf media isn’t valuable. Clearly I believe in the value and know there is untapped opportunity. It’s how I’ve made my living for the past 10 years and I’ve seen the positive impact to the growth of the game first hand."
"My take is that the constant comparison between YouTube golf and pro golf will bread devision and create animosity between tour players and creators when in reality we need to work together because it’s mutually beneficial."

The 31-year-old further pointed out the differences between the two forms of golf content.

Paige Spiranac says that she started creating golf content "out of necessity"

Paige Spiranac has been creating golf content for over a decade. In a YouTube video uploaded on her channel on January 9, she talked about her golf content creator journey and the challenges she faced.

Spiranac, who initially played on the Cactus Tour, said:

"And so all of this really started out of necessity. I wanted to play golf. I had no money. And these companies were reaching out and saying, hey, if you do some social promotion, or if you help us on the media side, we'll give you golf clubs, or we'll give you this, or we'll give you that. And I was like, I need it. I have no money," she said (6:24 onwards).

She also talked about how inexperienced she was during her early years of making golf content.

"And when I first started doing this, I had no idea what I was doing. And I was this insecure, emotional 21 year old with no media training and no path to follow. And so what I did, instead, is that I was brutally honest about who I am as a person," Spiranac added (at 13:58).

Paige Spiranac remarked that one of the most amazing aspects of her journey was the supportive community that has been with her for 10 years. She expressed gratitude to the community for supporting her as she stepped into the online space of golf-related content creation.
