Paige Spiranac once again took a jab at Phil Mickelson. The American social media influencer recently reacted to a viral picture of Tiger Woods slipping a tampon into Justin Thomas' hand after taking the lead over him on the ninth hole at the 2023 Genesis Invitational.
Paige Spiranac jumped into the comments section of the post shared by Golf Data analyst Rick Gehman, writing:
"I need a LIV vs PGA tour Ryder cup type event just so Tiger can give Phil a tampon after out driving him."
For the uninitiated, Phil Mickelson and Paige Spiranac recently got into hot water after the golfer-turned-social media influencer reacted to the LIV golfer's tweet where he talked about Sam Ryder's clothing.
During the American Express, Sam Ryder wore ankle-length socks. Mickelson found it inappropriate and tweeted:
"The tour doesn't allow shorts but does allow this week's leader to wear joggers with ankle socks? Showing 4 inches of the ankle? I'm no fashion guy, never will be, but there are some things I won't ever understand."
Paige Spiranac later spoke about it on her podcast, Playing a Round, and said:
"People were roasting Sam about his joggers. Phil Mickelson, which I didn’t see because I’m blocked, but people were posting about it. Phil Mickelson even had this tweet saying, ‘How can you show four inches of skin?’ Also, if Phil thinks that’s four inches, I feel sorry for his wife."
"He (Sam) was showing maybe an inch of ankle, they weren’t super tight, thought he looked good but it just shows how incredibly frustrating golf Twitter can be that they were so bothered by Sam Ryder wearing joggers.”
However, Phil Mickelson ignored Paige Spiranac's comment and did not say anything in public.
Greg Norman suggests a match between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf
LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman previously suggested a tournament between the two series. Earlier this month, Golf Digest posted about the match between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf and Norman tweeted about the same. He wrote:
"Nearly 10,000 fans have spoken. Bring on the Super Bowl of golf. LIV Golf Vs. PGA Tour."
LIV Golf and the PGA Tour have been making headline after headline since the inception of the Saudi-backed series, and if there is a tournament between the two, it will draw major attention.
Here is the list of matches suggested by Golf Digest:
- Tiger Woods Vs. Phil Mickelson
- Justin Thomas Vs. Dustin Johnson
- Jordan Spieth Vs. Patrick Reed
- Rory McIlroy Vs. Cameron Smith
- Xander Schauffele Vs. Abraham Ancer
- Tony Finau Vs. Paul Casey
- Matt Fitzpatrick Vs. Bryson DeChambeau
- Tom Kim Vs. Ian Poulter
- Jon Rahm Vs. Brooks Koepka
- Max Homa Vs. Sergio Garcia
- Patrick Cantlay Vs. Joaquin Niemann
- Collin Morikawa Vs. Matthew Wolff
- Scottie Scheffler Vs. Marc Leishman
Amid the legal battle between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour, Saudi-backed series players will be allowed to compete at Major tournaments. They received an invitation to the 2023 Masters and hopefully will also play at the US Open.
