Tiger Woods announces his latest golf project at Marcella Club - “My intent is to create a world-class golf experience”

Tiger Woods is moving into design in the game of golf

Tiger Woods has been on the PGA Tour since 1996. Through major health concerns and infidelity issues, he's remained a stalwart until now. However, with his time clearly running out, many wondered where he might go next.

His latest announcement might give a bit of insight into that. He took to Twitter on Tuesday (February 7) to announce that he's going to begin a new project - designing a course himself.

Woods said on Twitter:

"I’m excited to announce my latest golf course design project at Marcella Club in Park City, Utah! The course will offer engaging play for every ability. My intent is to create a world-class golf experience to pair with Marcella Club’s vision for modern luxury living."

Woods will be designing a course in scenic Park City, Utah. He'll be doing it with the Marcella Club, which has a vision for luxurious living. Woods' course will only add to that.

The pro golfer has barely been an active member of the PGA Tour for a while now due to health and age concerns.

It appeared he was moving into more of an ambassador role with the Tour. He came out against (and turned down an absurd signing bonus to join) LIV Golf and came to the defense of the Tour.

He also started a new league that will work in conjunction with the PGA Tour, further highlighting this new role. Now, it seems like he's going to start giving PGA Tour players a new place to play, too.

Many pro golfers turn to design when they're done. Some of the best golf courses in the world were former golfers who knew what to put into a new course.

Woods, arguably the best golfer of all time, might have more insight into that than anyone else, so his course design will likely prove as much.

Summit Sotheby’s International Realty said in a statement via Town Lift:

“The course will be the first course of a 36-hole facility integrated into a pristine natural landscape in a scenic location just minutes from Park City, offering unmatched views along Utah’s longest and highest-elevation golf course."

Tiger Woods also said:

“I couldn’t be more excited to be partnering with Marcella Club to design and create a new championship golf course just outside Park City. Utah is an incredible place, with favorable year-round weather that offers opportunities to be active outdoors throughout all four seasons – golfing, skiing, biking, hiking, and fishing – the list goes on and on."

Tiger Woods hasn't retired from the game just yet, but it's clear he has eyes on what he'll be doing for the next long while. That's good for the game of golf as a whole.

How many wins does Tiger Woods have?

Tiger Woods is arguably the best golfer to ever pick up a club. His numbers, which would likely have been even better if not for controversy and major injuries, prove that.

He has won 82 times on the PGA Tour, tied for the most all-time with Sam Snead. He also has 15 major wins, with the most recent coming in 2019 when he shocked the world by winning the Masters.
