Tiger Woods is ready to compete at the 2023 Genesis Invitational, which runs through this week. The tournament is hosted by the Tiger Woods Foundation every year in February.
In 2020, just after the completion of the tournament, Tiger Woods had a near-death car accident that led to severe injuries to his right foot, ankle and a fractured left leg. The incident took place just after he was recovering from a back injury.
Tiger Woods has been having difficulty with his performances for some time, and his performances at Riviera Country Club haven't gone well so far. Despite participating in the competition 13 times, he is yet to win the trophy.
He missed the cut twice while playing at the Riviera Club. However, his best finish was second.
The PGA Tour is already doubting his presence on the course this week as Woods has not fully recovered from his injury. He was set to compete at the 2022 Hero World Challenge but withdrew as he developed plantar fasciitis just ahead of the tournament in December.
Tiger Woods will undoubtedly have difficulties while competing in the Genesis Invitational Open. He last played at the tournament in 2020 where he finished 68th. He returned for hosting duties in 2021 but was badly injured in a car accident just two days after the tournament.
Tiger Woods explains his trajectory control
Tiger Woods is all set to compete in the 2023 Genesis Invitational Open. Fans are very excited about his performance. Woods has been struggling with injuries, making it difficult for him to play in the tournament, but the golfer has his tricks and tips to improve his game.
In one of his interviews with the Golf Channel in 2020, Woods explained trajectory control in swings. The 15-time major champion explained:
"My dad had a saying — what’s that acronym? K.I.S.S. Keep it simple, stupid. What he would tell me is, have three golf balls. The middle one is where I normally play it on an everyday, any shot. The back one is where I hit the low one, and the high one all I do is move it up one more ball.”
He went on to say:
“What I would try and feel, if I was going to hit one low, I’d try and feel as if my hands stop at my rib cage. If I want to hit one high, I’d feel as if my hands stop over the top of my head.”
Woods last played in December at the star-studded PNC Championship, where he finished at T8, playing alongside his 13-year-old son, Charlie Woods. Vijay Singh and Qass Singh won the tournament last year.
Woods also competed in the television exhibition series The Match where he teamed up with former World No.1, Rory McIlroy. However, they lost to the American duo of Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.
Woods has not won a tournament in almost two years and will definitely look forward to winning one at the 2023 Genesis Invitational Open.
