Tiger Woods failed to make it to the weekend at the 2024 Open Championship. He carded +14 for the event and missed the cut line by a fair margin at the Royal Troon Golf Club. Hence, after his second round, Woods decided to fly back to his son for the US Junior Amateur Open.

Woods had the luxury of flying back immediately as he owns the most expensive private jet among golfers, worth around $53 million. The 48-year-old golfer will fly to Detroit, where his son Charlie Woods is competing in the US Junior Amateur Open at Oakland Hills.

Even though the tournament will begin on Monday, July 22, Woods is probably flying out early to be with Charlie and watch his preparations at Oakland Hills.

15-year-old Charlie Woods qualified for his first US Junior Amateur Open as the medalist at Coral Springs. His dad, Tiger Woods, has won three US Junior Amateur titles in a row from 1991 to 1993. So, Charlie Woods will look to emulate his father and win at least one US Junior Amateur title in his career.

Apart from Charlie Woods, there are around 264 young golfers in the field from 36 countries for the 76th US Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills.

When will Tiger Woods play next?

Tiger Woods has had a disappointing year so far. He started 2024 by competing in The Genesis Invitational, a tournament hosted by him. Unfortunately, he withdrew from this event during round two due to flu-like symptoms. The 15-time Major winner then went to Augusta for The Masters, where he made the cut and finished 60th.

However, since then, he has been struggling with his game as he missed the cut at the 2024 PGA Championship, 2024 US Open, and he 2024 Open Championship. Woods is currently trying his best to regain strength and stamina to compete regularly on the PGA Tour.

During the post-round interview at the 2024 Open Championship, Woods revealed that he will compete next in the Hero World Challenge in December. Woods hosts this tournament without a cutline and a limited field in the Bahamas.

In the same interview at Royal Troon, Woods confirmed that he will compete in the 2025 Open Championship at Royal Portrush.

"Portrush? Is that the next year's Open? Oh, Yeah, definitely," he said.

This is good news for Tiger Woods' fans as he has started to commit to future events, taking the question of retirement away for now.
