Tiger Woods' former coach Hank Haney commented on the legendary golfer's divot depth via a post on X on January 4, 2025. Haney and Woods worked together for six years together, starting in 2004.

The former reacted to an old video of the latter hitting flush shots on the golf course, which was posted by NUCLR GOLF. Originally posted by the PGA Tour on X, it featured Woods hitting shots on the golf course. Referring to Woods, Haney commented on his divots.

"Those divots aren’t deep but the bottom of the swing is in the right place every time."

Over the years, Woods' swing has been praised by a lot of golf specialists in the world. David Leadbetter was regarded as one of the 50 best teachers in Golf Digest's biennial ranking of 2023. According to him, Woods has perfected his swing in terms of 'sync' and 'rhythm'. In a 2023 interview with Golf Digest, Leadbetter explained how Woods improved his golf swing.

"The biggest thing to note is his transition from backswing to downswing. It's much quieter than it used to be. He has eliminated the violent move into the ball. There's not a big sinking of the knees and then a stand-up look coming into impact. He's maintaining his height much better, and that gives him room to powerfully release the club. Woods' swing looks a lot more in sync with great rhythm"

What did Tiger Woods tell Scottie Scheffler about divots?

In TaylorMade's Stealth 2 lineup of drivers video released in May 2023, Tiger Woods made a remark that confused Scottie Scheffler. The 2024 Hero World Challenge winner was baffled after seeing Woods hitting without taking a divot in his driving range stall. You can watch the conversation between the two below. (29:47)

Scheffler: "Hey, what’s with the no divots?”
Woods: “What? Why do you take a divot? I’m just picking it."
Scheffler: “Do you do that always when you’re warming up?"
Woods: "Uh-huh. When I’m swinging well, I don’t take divots."

Shortly after the clip went viral, Woods explained what he wanted to mean with his 'no-divots' statement to Scheffler. In an interview with Golf.com back in November 2023, Tiger Woods said:

“It was actually hard for me to take a divot when I was hitting it really well. At that time, early 2000s, mid-2000s, even late 90s, my natural shot was a draw. So obviously, with the draw, you’re not going to be swinging that left, you’re not going to be that steep."
"Yes, I didn’t take a lot of divots. would stand there and hit golf balls for the entire day and you really couldn't see where I was hitting golf balls at, especially with the long irons."

Tiger Woods is widely considered one of the greatest players in the history of golf. The 49-year-old has 110 professional wins under his belt.

Woods underwent the sixth back surgery of his career in September. After skipping a number of tournaments, including the 2024 Hero World Challenge, Woods is set to play in the TGL next. The 82-time PGA Tour winner could tee off as a part of the Jupiter Links Golf Club on January 14, 2025.
