Charlie Woods overshadowed his father, Tiger Woods and stole the show in the final round of the 2024 PNC Championship. The 15-year-old hit his first-ever career hole-in-one at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Moreover, his mother and Tiger Woods' ex-wife Elin Nordegren was also in attendence which would have elevated this special feat even more for Charlie.
A post shared by popular Tiger Woods fan page TWLegion reported:
"Charlie’s mom Elin is on the grounds. Todd Lewis spoke with her - she watched the ace from a TV in the clubhouse but is now walking the grounds for the back 9"
Elin Nordegren was married to golf legend Tiger Woods from 2004 to 2010 before the couple announced a nasty public split. The pair have two children from their marriage - daughter Sam Alexis Woods and their son Charlie. Tiger's daughter Sam is also caddying for them in this tournament.
Tiger and Charlie Woods have never tasted success in the PNC Championship. They came agonisingly close in 2021 and finished runner-up to John Daly and his son.
Tiger Woods and Erin Nordegren's son Charlie reacts to his hole-in-one at the 2024 PNC Championship
It was a unique day at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club as not one, but two young golfers scored their maiden hole-in-one. Charlie Woods scored the first ace on the #4th hole of the course, before Padraig Harrington's son Paddy followed it up with a second ace of the hour on hole #8.
Both the golfers were visibly in disbelief at the stunning feat in front of their fathers. Charlie Woods told the Golf Channel:
"It was a perfect seven-iron, so just kind of hit it. It was awesome. I didn't think it went in. I don't believe anybody until I go up there and see it."
Two-time Major winner Padraig Harrington also reacted to his son Paddy's ace (via the PGA Tour):
"I've never hit a shot and been that excited before."
Both Tiger and son Charlie would be hoping fifth time is the charm and finally win the PNC Championship. Since the pair's first start in 2020 (Charlie was 11 years old then), they have come close to winning the tournament, but failed to cross the line. After being in the lead for the first two rounds this year, they will be feeling quite good about their chances.
Can Tiger Woods finally add the PNC Championship accolade to his illustrious career?
