Tiger Woods finds it ‘hard to believe’ that TGL became a ‘reality’

The inaugural match of the Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy-led TGL (TMRW Golf League) took place on Wednesday (Jan. 7). In a thrilling contest at the SoFi Center, The Bay Golf Club beat The New York Golf Club by 7 points with the match ending 9-2 in favor of The Bay Golf Club.

Along with the thrilling indoor golf played last night, fans were also treated to an appearance by Tiger Woods, who was seen in the commentary booth. In a video uploaded on social media platform X, Woods said it's hard to believe that TGL has become a reality:

"Considering this was just a dream conjured up - Rory and I were talking about it - it's hard to believe that that dream came into reality and we're able to take golf into another stratosphere really."

He further spoke about the opportunity to showcase golf through the TGL, stating:

"Just to have the ability to showcase our sport - and it's not traditional golf, yes - but it is golf. And that's the main thing provided a different type of atmosphere. I hear a couple people rooting against Wyndham on that putt back there. You don't normally hear that at events. There are certain events you do hear that all the time, but most events you don't hear that. You're gonna hear that here, which is great."

With the first game of TGL coming to an end, the next match will be played on January 14th at the SoFi Center. This game will be played between The Los Angeles Golf Club and The Jupiter Links Golf Club. The match will begin at 7:00 PM EST and can be streamed on ESPN and ESPN+.
