Legendary golfer Tiger Woods is gearing up for his fifth tournament and fourth Major of the year. Woods is on the field for the 152nd Open Championship at Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, South Ayrshire, Scotland.

The former World No. 1 has given a crucial health update ahead of The Open Championship 2024. Talking to SiriusXM's Taylor Zarzour, Woods said:

"I think as the season has gone on, I've physically gotten better. Now, my game is a different story. It's still not quite as sharp as I'd like to have it just because I just haven't played that much. Once I start playing a little bit more, I'll be able to do that but a lot of that stems from the training."

In the four starts this year, Tiger Woods has missed cuts in the US Open 2024 and the PGA Championship 2024. He had to withdraw from the Genesis Invitational in the second round. Furthermore, at Masters, he registered his worst scores at Majors despite making the cut. He further said (via SiriusXM PGA TOUR Radio):

"We've been doing a lot more work in the gym and training and getting my body better and because of that my practice sessions have gotten longer, they've gotten better and now I just need to convert that into better rounds on the golf course and also not make any mental mistakes either."

Tiger Woods added that he has made mental mistakes in his last three Majors and acknowledged that such mistakes are costly. He further said that the link golfers have leveled the playing field, however, avoiding pot bunkers is the key to the tournament.

The winner of the 2024 Open Championship will earn $3.1 million from the total prize money of $17 million. He is partnered with Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay at 2:37 pm BST.
