On Monday, Tiger Woods recorded the first shot clock violation in the TGL series. In the matchup between Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf Club on January 27, Woods had a tough time on the 10th hole.

On the par-5 hole, the 15-time major winner went on to play against Rory McIlroy in a head-to-head singles match. The Northern Irish golfer carded a birdie on the hole, but Woods ran out of time and lost the hole.

Nuclr Golf shared the news about Tiger Woods' shot clock violation on its X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption:

"Tiger Woods with the first shot clock violation in TGL history"

Fans jumped into the comment section to react to the incident.

"Tiger needs to settle down," a fan wrote.

Some said Woods did it on purpose, while others took a jibe at him.

"Def on purpose," a user posted.
"All kinds of terrible game management by the goat," another said.
"Never ever rush the GOAT," a fan commented.

While some simply commented on the game, others said the shot clock should also be introduced in the PGA Tour.

"Great night of golf," a fan wrote.
"#pga needs a shot clock," another added.

Tiger Woods opens up about his shot clock violation

Tiger Woods took more time than needed to take the shot on the 10th hole during the TGL game on Monday. During the press conference, he opened up about his performance and said (via ASAP Sports):

"Normally I slow my heart rate down before I pull the trigger, so dropping my heart rate down sometimes takes a little bit longer than others. As I told these guys, it's on me. I should have called time out as I built in my stance because of the time. But I was dropping my heart rate down like I normally would. It just took too long."

Notably, TGL matches take place in triples and singles formats. Jupiter Links Golf Club and Boston Common Golf Club both won three holes each on Monday, and the winner was determined by overtime. Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links Golf Club won the game by 4-3.

It is important to note this was the second time Jupiter Golf Links played in the TGL. They made their debut in the series on January 14 against Los Angeles Golf Club but lost the game.

Meanwhile, it was the first game in the TGL for Rory McIlroy's Boston Common Golf Club. However, they lost the game. Next, Boston will play against Los Angeles Golf Club on February 4.
