Tiger Woods collaborated with Grant Horvat to promote the new TaylorMade Qi35 driver. The 15-time major championship winner played on course with the influencer, who has over 987 thousand followers, to give him a golf lesson.
Horvat went into the day with a bunch of questions to ask the PGA Tour superstar about how to improve shots with a driver. He asked Woods how he hits drivers and woods off the deck, to which the Sun Day Red founder replied that he dosen't know and prefers to tee the ball up.
The 26-year-old asked Woods about his thought process while hitting a wood off the deck and how he learnt to hit down on the ball. The 82-time PGA Tour winner replied (via YouTube 6:49 - 7:20):
"I grew up with at a time when we were transforming everything. So I was on the outside of Persimmon, kind of where I grew up playing, so I've always been a natural sweeper of a golf ball. And so I've been good at hitting fairway bunker shots. I've always hit the ball high naturally. So learning over thime to actually hit the ball down it's been one of my tasks over time."
He revealed that he talked to multiple players and instructors to figure out how to lower his ball flight. He played around with the ball position, shaft lean, different wrist angles. The TGL co-founder relates hitting a 5-wood or a 3-wood off the deck to hitting a 4-iron or a 3-iron with a sweeping motion rather than swinging with the intention of taking a divot.

The video published on January 7 has gone viral with over 1.1 million views and 57 thousand likes. The two golfers went on to discuss more technical issue along with their solutions.
Tiger Woods' secret to hitting the fairway off the tee
In Grant Horvat's YouTube video, Tiger Woods also revealed his secret to always finding the fairway with a driver off the tee under pressure. When faced with a narrow hole, the former Stanford golfer said he begins his pre-shot routine by picking out a target for the golf ball to start and finish.
With very little fairway to work with, Woods prefers to hit the ball off the heel of the clubface while teeing the ball up lower than his usual tee height, which is already lower than most players, to play a cut. The smaller tee height forces him to be more shallow instead of getting under the ball. He does the same if he has to play with heavy winds.
In these situations, the Jupiter Links Golf Club star does not give much weight to the distance travelled. Instead, he focuses on keeping the ball in play to give him a much better opportunity for the second shot.
