Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's new league TGL has made another massive move. The new league, which is set to launch officially in January, has partnered with Sky Sports Golf.

This is a major television partnership as Sky Sports will have exclusive coverage of every single match of TGL for the UK and European region. This is a two-year deal, so every matchup of Boston Common GC, Jupiter Links GC, and more will be seen on Sky Sports through 2026.

In response, the TGL X account posted:

"Can't stop, won't stop."

This is significant for a lot of reasons. TGL hasn't even officially launched. The tour has a venue, about 24 players, and team names with owners attached. No one has taken a single official swing for TGL, yet they have not only a television deal but a deal with a prominent provider.

This is the second TV deal TGL has, as they're also partnered with ESPN and ESPN+ for coverage in the USA. For comparison, LIV Golf struggled for a long time to get a TV deal and when they did, it was only with the CW. Woods and McIlroy's league is ascending in impressive fashion, and Sky Sports is aiding them in their journey.

Jason Wessely, director of Sky Sports Golf, said in a statement (via Insider Sport):

“TGL is such an exciting and innovative new format that both existing and new golf fans can enjoy, and we’re delighted to be part of the TGL journey from the start, bringing fans even closer to some of the greatest golf stars."

Wessely noted that they are looking forward to working with TGL to "make the tournament a truly entertaining viewing experience." He also added that they're delighted to add TGL to Sky's golf coverage since the channel is the "home of golf."

Mike McCarley, CEO and founder of TMRW Sports and TGL, added:

“As the media home of golf in the UK and Ireland, Sky Sports is the ideal home for TGL to reach fans who are accustomed to turning to Sky to find the best golfers in the world on Sky Sports platforms across Europe."

Sky Sports is particularly big in the UK and Ireland, and there are five golfers, including Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood, from those countries represented in TGL. McCarley added:

“Golf fans will have local players to watch and new teams to follow in this fast-paced version of golf that is rooted in the traditions of the game.”

TGL officially begins on January 7, 2025, so it's less than two weeks away from launch. They will have matches every Tuesday through the early portion of the year.
