In just a few days, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's long journey to get to this point will finally be over with the official debut of the TGL. The league was initially supposed to debut one year ago, but infrastructure issues pushed it back to 2025.
The first match of the inaugural season is finally almost here. This league will function unlike any other in golf right now. If you're interested in watching everything the opener has to offer, here's what you need to know.
How to watch TGL Match 1
TGL's first match will be on January 7, 2025. At 9:00 pm EST, two of the six clubs will face off in the season opener. This will be aired on ESPN and ESPN+ if you live in the United States.

If you don't, rest assured. Sky Sports just reached a deal with the golf league to broadcast exclusive coverage of all events for international audiences and the first match will be broadcast worldwide via the same.
Who's playing in Match 1?
The opening match of TGL's history is the only one that day. On January 7, only two teams will play: New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club. Most scheduled matchdays will see just one matchup.
New York Golf Club is made up of Matt Fitzpatrick, Rickie Fowler, Xander Schauffele, and Cameron Young. They are owned by New York Mets owner Steve Cohen.
The Bay Golf Club has the following members: Ludvig Aberg, Wyndham Clark, Shane Lowry, and Min Woo Lee. Marc Lasry, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Avenue Capital Group, owns this club.
