Tiger Woods and his teenage son Charlie made heads turn at the PNC Championship this weekend. The legendary golfer’s 15-year-old son carded his first career hole-in-one on Sunday at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, but the duo narrowly lost as Bernhard Langer and his son Jason in a play-off.

The Langers’ successful title defence saw Team Woods miss out on their first-ever win in the competition. Despite their defeat, Tiger and Charlie both remained in high spirits. The 15x major champion came out in high praise of his young blood. Replying to a media query about his impression on his son’s performance, the ace golfer heaped praise on the former’s ‘commitment’ and ‘development.’

Interestingly, the 48-year-old golfer stated that ‘most of us forget’ his son is ‘only 15 years old.’ He reiterated that Charlie’s accomplishments are ‘incredible’ for his age.

Discussing Charlie's game after the PNC Championship, Tiger Woods said:

“He's gotten better at every facet of the game. That’s a commitment to practicing and developing as a player. I think that most of us forget he's only 15 years old. I know he's been doing this in front of the media for a long time. But being only 15, I think it's incredible what he's been able to accomplish so far, and the ceiling that he has is unlimited.”

Tiger Woods went on to compare his own game to his son’s and stated that he didn’t hit the ball as far and good at his age. Interestingly, Charlie quickly responded to the comment and said that he “didn't win as many tournaments” as his dad.

Tiger Woods' son Charlie makes an ace at the PNC Championship

Charlie hit his first-ever hole-in-one during the final round of the PNC Championship on Sunday.

The 15-year-old holed out the par-three fourth from 175 yards with a seven-iron. Notably, the young golfer didn’t even realized the shot went in as fans in the gallery erupted with wild cheering. He later dubbed his game ‘awesome’ and said the round was “some of the most fun” he’s ever had.

Charlie Woods said about his ace:

“It was awesome. No-one made a mistake today, so that was some of the most fun I've ever had… On top of that, I made an ace. I don't think I can top that.”

Tiger Woods was also in disbelief after the shot went in. The ace golfer, who has three aces to his name on the PGA Tour, embraced his son with a big hug and shouted “Yeah!” in celebration.

It's pertinent to note that this weekend marked the fifth straight year Team Woods has participated in the 36-hole tournament. This was also Tiger Woods’ first competitive event outing since his lower back surgery in September. Reflecting on the competition, the 82-time major champion said that he “made a great team” with his son this weekend.
