Tiger Woods on his son Charlie: "He's gotten better at every facet of the game"
Tiger Woods and Charlie had a strong start to the tournament. In the first round, the father-son duo scored 13 birdies and carded a bogey-free 13-under 59 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. They were tied on the top going into the second round.
They scored an eagle and 13 birdies in the second round to score 15-under 57. In the post-tournament press conference, Charlie was asked about his first eagle, he said (via ASAP Sports):
"It was awesome having Dad there. That was so much fun. It was just a perfect 7-iron, little cut in there. Of course never got to see it go in. So that sucks. But that's all right."
Woods was asked what aspect of Charlie's game impressed him the most. The former World No.1 said (via ASAP Sports):
"He's gotten better at every facet of the game. That's a commitment to practicing and developing as a player. I think that most of us forget he's only 15 years old. I know he's been doing this in front of the media for a long time. But being only 15, I think it's incredible what he's been able to accomplish so far, and the ceiling that he has is unlimited."
This was their fifth appearance at the tournament and their second runner-up. In their first appearance, the duo finished seventh. In 2021, they finished as a runner-up to John Daly and son John Daly II. In 2022, they finished eighth while last year they finished fifth.
