Following the third day of the Presidents Cup, Tom Kim lashed out at Team USA, accusing them of poor sportsmanship. He alleged that he heard some of the players from the visiting team cursing at him.
On Saturday, September 28, Tom Kim played in both the fourball and foursomes sessions. While he and Si Woo Kim won the morning fourball 4&3, the duo suffered a 1-up defeat in the foursomes.
During the post-round interview, Tom Kim expressed his disappointment with the behavior of the U.S. players, accusing them of poor sportsmanship.
"I think the start of the round was definitely a little harder, but as it got towards the end, it got a little feisty out there," he said. "I could hear some players cursing at us. That part wasn't really -- I don't think there was good sportsmanship there.
"But it's all part of the fun. I understand it. So the US Team definitely motivated us to go out there," he added.
Kim added that he was neither frustrated nor angry with the enthusiasm of the US team as he also loved expressing himself on the golf course. However, he felt there was no need for negative remarks.
"I just don't think there's a need to look at someone and curse at them. I just don't think there's a need for it. I understand it. I don't get hurt about it. My feelings don't hurt at all. I hope there's no negative comments," he added.
