Tommy Fleetwood reacts to British swimmer James Guy taking a golf stroke with his Olympic trophy

Tommy Fleetwood recently took to Instagram to react to British swimmer James Guy taking a golf stroke with his Olympic trophy. The 2024 Paris Olympics began on Wednesday, July 24.

Guy won a gold medal in swimming along with Duncan Scott, Tom Dean and Matt Richards in the men's 4x200m freestyle. The same team had also won the event at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

In a reel shared on Instagram by putting coach James Jankowski, Guy can be seen taking a golf stroke with his podium claw. He captioned it:

"When you win a gold medal but golf is life. @james.g.guy with the podium claw…"

The reel was in turn shared by Tommy Fleetwood on his Instagram story. He tagged Guy with a series of laughing emojis and said:

"Let me know when you've booked our tee time!!"

Guy reciprocated the banter in his own story, responding to Fleetwood:

"Loser pays for breky at Alty market"

Alty Market is located in Altrincham, a town in Greater Manchester, England. Guy is from Greater Manchester while Fleetwood is from Southport.

Tommy Fleetwood is participating in his second Olympics this year. In Tokyo, he finished tied for 16th. The English player will tee off at 9:44 a.m. local time on Thursday, August 1 with Wyndham Clark (USA) and Hideki Matsuyama (JPN). He'll tee off at 11:44 a.m. local time on Friday, August 2 with the same pair.

Tommy Fleetwood has had a resounding 2024 season with three top-10 finishes and nine top-26 finishes on the PGA Tour. The 33-year-old golfer is positioned 30th on the PGA Tour's FedExCup standings with 1,223 points.

Fleetwood's best performance came at the first Major of the year at Augusta National where he finished tied at third.
