Jon Rahm recently got honest about Greg Norman moving out as the LIV CEO. Scott O'Neil was officially appointed as the new CEO after Norman stepped down. As someone with extensive experience in the sports industry and a tenure spanning 25 years, O'Neil could prove to be vital for the LIV x PGA merger.

Rahm echoed the same belief as he mentioned that there was too much bad blood between Norman and the governing bodies for the merger talks, and hence, appointing a new CEO might help with the same.

"As far as the merger talks go, I think, unfortunately, there’s been possibly a little too much bad blood between Greg and the governing bodies. And to have somebody outside of that might help the situation," Rahm said after missing the cut at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. [via Bunkered]

The Spanish golfer continued further and said even though Greg Norman has treated him well, he believes having someone outside of the world of golf will be a perfect match for the job.

"Even though Greg has treated me great, I think having somebody like Scott – who is a little bit outside the world of golf, but very much in the world of sport – makes him kind of a perfect match for the job," the Spaniard said.
"I talked to Scott for some time at a commercial shoot, and based on what I talked to him about and the vision he has, and his enthusiasm, I think he’s going to have a very positive impact for LIV," Rahm added.

Jon Rahm competed in his first event of the 2025 season on the DP World Tour this week. However, he missed the cut and did not make it to the weekend with a five-over-par 77, and hopes to achieve redemption at this event in 2026.

"If the schedule allows, I would like to be here next year and hopefully get some redemption," Rahm said. [via The Guardian]

However, his performance on the LIV Golf in 2024 was exceptional as he became the season-long individual champion.
