Rory McIlroy said that he and Scottie Scheffler were "lucky" to win the foursomes at The Showdown
Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler played foursomes from holes 7 to 12 at the Showdown. The PGA Tour stars took the lead on the ninth hole after McIlroy's strong tee shot. The LIV Golfers Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau tied the match on the 11th hole with a birdie. However, McIlroy holed his putt after Koepka missed on the 12th hole to secure the win in foursomes.
Talking about the event, McIlroy said (via Golfweek):
"It got cold pretty quickly, but obviously Scottie and I got off to a really good start, and then from there it was just about trying to keep the momentum. It was a bit of a battle in the alternate shot and we were lucky to scrape a win over those six holes."
Scheffler and McIlroy won The Showdown and took home $5 million each in cryptocurrency.
