The U.S. Open is one of the four Majors in golf. This year, the Major is being played at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina from May 13 to 16, 2024. This will be the fourth edition of the U.S. Open that will be held at the venue. 1999 was the first year when the U.S. Open was played at Pinehurst. The tournament was later hosted there in 2005 and 2014 as well.

In 1895, James Walker Tufts bought 5,800 acres of land in North Carolina. He later employed Dr. D. Leroy Culver who designed the first nine holes and John Dunn Tucker expanded it to 18 holes. The first 18 holes became part of Pinehurst No.1. The U.S. Open 2024 is being played at Pinehurst No. 2 which was designed by Donald J. Ross in 1899.

The first important golf event at the Pinehurst resort was PGA Championship in 1936.
