US Open champ Bryson DeChambeau breaks into tears at the LIV Golf Nashville – “I’m humbled”

Bryson DeChambeau created history by winning the US Open 2024 at Pinehurst in North Carolina. The 30-year-old LIV Golf player won his second US Open and also the second Major of his golf career.

After winning the tournament, DeChambeau earned $4.3 million and future exemptions to all four Majors of golf. He'll now be playing at LIV Golf Nashville.

In the pre-tournament press conference, Bryson DeChambeau broke into tears and said (via LIV Golf):

"I'm humbled. Very humbled by it."

The Crushers GC Captain said that in the initial years, he felt a sense of purpose in the game of golf. However he made mistakes along the way and has learnt "patience, resilience, determination" from them, as per the golfer. He further said that it's now his time to give back to the game that has given him so much.

After getting the trophy, DeChambeau took it to fans to show his appreciation for their support and also said that it is his way of giving back to the game.

"That's why this was so important for everyone to touch the trophy. I wanted everybody to experience it because it wasn't just for me, it was for the turnaround, everyone looking at me going, wow, that person is different than what I thought," DeChambeau said.

"It was for them, those people that saw who I now am, who I am. That's what I wanted people to feel is that involvement, that appreciation from me saying thank you. It meant a lot," he added.

Bryson DeChambeau got the better of World No. 2 Rory Mcllroy by one shot. The two played neck-to-neck on the final day of the tournament. Mcllroy had scored five birdies till the 12th hole at Pinehurst. However, he scored three bogeys in four holes including two missed putts from under 4 feet on the 16th and 18th holes which hurt his chances.

Bryson DeChambeau said that he hasn't "truly cried yet" after winning the US Open

After winning the 124th US Open, Bryson DeChambeau jumped to the 10th spot on the OWGR rankings. DeChambeau said that he has made considerable improvement in the past 18 months. He shared (via LIV Golf):

"I haven't truly cried yet, and I don't want this to be the time I cry. I've got to just say I'm humbled by all of it. I never would have thought that from a year-and-a-half ago, things would be where they're at right now."

Bryson DeChambeau has had a happening few days after winning the US Open. He signed autographs for the fans till midnight on the final day and celebrated the win by drinking wine from the trophy. He also went to New York and is now in Nashville for his tournament.

The LIV event will be played at The Grove in Tennessee's capital from June 21 to 23, 2024. Talking about his preparation, DeChambeau said:

"There's going to be an adrenaline dump here in the next day probably, and I've got to get myself back up and ready for Friday."

DeChambeau was the runner-up at the previous PGA Tour Major, the 2024 PGA Championship, and finished T6 at the year's first, The Masters at Augusta National Golf Course.
