Eighty-five-year-old JoAnne Carner impressed everyone in the first round of the US Senior Women's Open as she once again shot her age. She carded a 14-over 85 on Thursday, August 1 at Fox Chapel.

Carner has won the most (eight) USGA titles in the history of female golf. She is a two-time US Women's Open champion and has also claimed the US Women's Amateur titles six times. Additionally, she won the US Girls' Junior Championship once. This week, she is competing in her sixth US Senior Women's Open.

How did JoAnne Carner perform at the US Senior Women's Open?

JoAnne Carner carded a 14-over 85 in the opening round of the US Senior Women's Open. She made seven bogeys and eight triple bogeys on Thursday. She also picked up a birdie on the par-4 seventh hole.

Following the first round, JoAnne Carner is tied for 110th and is 18 strokes behind the leader Kaori Yamamoto. The Japanese golfer made a bogey on the par-3 sixth but then picked up five birdies on the remaining holes to take a one-shot lead at the US Senior Women's Open.

Christa Johnson and Lisa Grimes are tied for second at 3-under. While Grimes had a bogey-free round, Johnson made one bogey in the Thursday round.
