Donald Trump, former President of the United States, has a well-known passion for the sport of golf. Hence, it is not entirely surprising to see him on a golf course in the middle of a presidential campaign, especially one of his properties.
Trump's most recent visit to a golf course had a spectacular note. The former president was on the verge of an ace, but his ball hit the pin and fell about two feet short of the hole.
The moment was filmed and posted on social media by the former president's son, Donald Trump Jr. The video has been reposted numerous times across all platforms, with millions of views.
In the video, Donald Trump is seen teeing off with an iron on a hole that has the characteristic of an island green.
After the tee shot, he turned his back to the green and walked away, but those present called his attention to the fact that the ball had hit the pin. Whoever was filming zoomed in on the green and the ball can be seen a few feet from the hole.
Trump is a well-known amateur golfer. Despite his age, he maintains a 2.8 handicap.
Fans' mixed reactions to Donald Trump's near ace
While most fans recognize Trump as a great golfer, not everyone believes this lucky shot was real. Numerous fans reacted to the video, not all of them congratulating the former president on his feat.
"It’s amazing what AI can do," one fan posted.
"Plant the ball by the pin. Hit your shot. Don’t zoom in to track the hit ball. Wait 10 seconds after shot was hit. Zoom into green to show planted got ball," another fan said.
"Looks like the ball randomly appears after they zoom in," another user said.
Other fans, however, took to social media to show their admiration and support for Trump:
"Proud to vote for this golf legend!!!," one fan posted.
"Joe is still walking from the parking lot," another fan joked.
"Dude he’s actually so good," another fan said.
A few weeks ago, Trump appeared as a guest in the latest video of the "Breaking 50" series on the YouTube channel of two-time major champion Bryson DeChambeau. Both players finished with a score of 22-under 50, just one stroke off the mark.
The YouTube post quickly went viral. Within 24 hours, it had been viewed more than 6 million times. Two weeks later, it had more than 10 million views.
The video also raised $220,000 for U.S. veterans and helped DeChambeau's channel surpass 1 million subscribers.
A week later, the former president's granddaughter, Kai Trump, also posted a video of herself playing golf with influencer Grant Horvat.
