Justin Thomas finished the first round of The Sentry 2025 tied for 30th with a score of 71. In the second round, he had a complicated front nine, including a hilarious play on the 6th hole.

Thomas hit his 359-yard tee shot into the right rough and left his ball just 70 yards from the hole. He looked for the green with his second shot and that's when his ball hit the one of fellow group member Adam Scott.

The video of the moment was shared by the PGA Tour on its official account on X (formerly Twitter). In the video, you can see that Thomas' ball had a trajectory that could have taken it straight to the hole, but Adam Scott's ball prevented it.

You can also see that Justin Thomas' reaction to this unusual break was to laugh. One player's ball hitting another player's ball in a round of golf is extremely rare, but there is a rule for it.

The R&A's comments on Rule 11.1 are as follows:

"If your ball in motion accidentally hits another ball at rest, there is no penalty to any player. Your ball will normally be played as it lies."

Thomas' ball was four feet from the hole after colliding with Adam Scott's ball. The two-time major winner missed the putt and parred the hole.

A look at Justin Thomas' performance at The Sentry 2025

Justin Thomas shot a 2-under 72 in the first round of The Sentry 2025. The performance left him in a tie for 30th place, seven shots behind interim leader Tom Hoge.

On Thursday, Thomas started three-over through three holes due to a triple bogey on hole 3. He rallied to make four birdies and no bogeys on the rest of the front nine.

However, he could not keep up the pace on the back nine. He finished with three birdies and two bogeys for a 2-under score for the round.

Thomas also struggled at the start on Friday. This time the complications came on the 4th hole, where he double bogeyed. Birdies on the 3rd, 5th, 9th and 10th helped him out of the bad moment (his second round performance is not finished yet).

The 31-year-old played 20 tournaments in 2024, making 16 cuts. He finished in the top 10 six times, including a tie for second at the ZOZO Championship, his best finish of the season.

Another highlight of the season was a tie for eighth at the PGA Championship, played at Justin Thomas' home course, Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky. As for the other three major championships of the season, he missed the cut at the Masters and the US Open, and tied for 31st at The Open Championship.
