Kim Si Woo is currently playing well at the BMW Championship. During the opening round, the South Korean golfer nailed an impressive and improbable birdie to draw into the solo lead at the time. From a difficult lie, Woo calmly did what needed to be done to claim the birdie.

The PGA Tour star wedged the ball up in the air off the tall grass. If hit incorrectly, the ball could have easily rolled back down to where Woo was already at.

Instead, the ball perfectly dropped onto the green and kept rolling right over and into the cup. The crowd cheered for what was one of the most impressive shots in the early goings of the BMW Championship.

Kim Si Woo currently ranks 44th on the FedEx Cup rankings. That was good enough to make it to the BMW Championship after last week's FedEx St. Jude Championship. But he needs to be in the top 30 by the end of the week to qualify for the Tour Championship.

However, the live projections based on the current standings have Woo moving all the way up to fourth overall. Of course, that may or may not hold over the weekend, but the 29-year-old is going to need shots like the one above and a great performance to move on to next week's Tour Championship.

Kim Si Woo has two set objectives for this week's BMW Championship. A win at the second FedEx Cup event of the year would go a long way towards achieving his goals, but he is looking to the future.

Via The Sun, Woo opened up on what he wants to accomplish this week:

"My goal at the start of the year was to make the Tour Championship and Presidents Cup team. Both are not guaranteed yet, so I have to try my best this week."

He isn't sure exactly what he needs to do in this tournament, but he knows he needs to do well:

"I don’t know exactly what I have to do. My guess is to get a top-10 and hopefully get into next week. The situation is hard but I look forward to playing well here. The (high) altitude is hard to calculate and you have to do a lot of yardage work. It’s hilly and a hard walk. But the golf course looks good and I’m excited to play.”

Regardless, Kim Si Woo has earned a top-50 finish in the FedEx Cup, and that will allow him to play Signature Events next year. He said he is happy with being in the top 50 and earning a spot in those, no matter what his final few rounds of the season look like.
