A leopard was spotted in the second round of the DP World Tour's Alfred Dunhill Championship on Friday, December 13. The tournament is being played at the Leopard Creek Country Club in Malelane, South Africa.
In the video shared by the official page of DP World Tour on X, the leopard can be seen crouching in the dense grass. The animal's golden fur with black rosette markings is visible in the short clip as its eyes are directed straight at the camera.
Awed by the sighting, one of the commentators said:
"Oh, that's real! Okay."
"Look at that. Let's see, everybody's dream. Everybody's dreamed to see a leopard in the Kruger Park," the other commentator spoke.
"Look at those eyes. Just looking back at the camera. Those would make anybody tremble," the first commentator analysed.
That's not all. Because of the location, several sightings of hippos, elephants, and giraffes were seen at the venue.
The elephants were mostly seen near the 13th green where several players enjoyed the sight of them in the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
Marcus Kinhult leads the Alfred Dunhill Championship
Marcus Kinhult is on the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The tournament is the fourth in the opening swing of the 2024-25 DP World Tour season.
After a splendid round of 7-under 65 in the first round, Kinhult scored 4-under 68 in the second making his aggregate 11-under 133. On the front nine, he scored four birdies on 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 8th holes against two bogeys on par-4 first and par-3 seventh. On the back nine, he scored three birdies on the 10th, 11th and 13th holes against a bogey on par-5 15th.
Talking about the weather in the second round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship, he said (via European Tour):
"It was hot. It was actually OK this morning, I would say, but after five or six holes I got the umbrella up and tried to hide under that for most of the day."
Talking about his performance in the tournament so far, he said:
"It was a good day so I'm happy. Yesterday was really good, I'm super happy with that round. I feel like I played well today also but I didn't quite take advantage of the par fives today. I think that was the only difference. But I'm not upset. It was a good score today and I'm looking forward to two more rounds."
Three golfers, Andrea Pavan, Dale Whitnell, and Dean Burmester, were tied for second. They are three shots behind the Kinhult at a score of 8-under 136.
The prize money in the Alfred Dunhill Championship is the same as last year. The winner will take home €255,000 ($268,000) from a total purse of €1.4 million ($1.47 million).
