WATCH: Matthieu Pavon welcomed by large crowd at Le Golf National for the second straight day

Matthieu Pavon is currently competing in the men's golf competition at Le Golf National in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France. This is Pavon's first Olympic Games.

The French golfer was welcomed by a large crowd in the second round at Le Golf National. The second day saw an even larger attendance than the first at the Olympic venue. The video of the moment can be seen below:

The World No.3 and Irish golfer, Rory Mcllroy praised the atmosphere at Le Golf National. He said (via Olympic Golf):

"Unbelievable. It was surprising. With so many events going on spread all across the city, for people to venture out here and to watch us play, it was a really cool atmosphere to play in."

Matthieu Pavon scored an even par 71 in the first round. He scored one birdie on the first hole on the front nine. On the back nine, he scored one birdie on the 14th hole against two bogeys on the 10th, and 12th holes. He was tied at 42nd position after the end of the first round.

At the time of writing, he was 1-over 25 in five holes in the second round. He is paired with Collin Morikawa and Matt Fitzpatrick for the round.

Xander Schauffele, and Hideki Matsuyama, are tied at the top of the leaderboard at the time of writing with a score of -8. Jon Rahm is a shot behind on third. Sami Valimaki and Joaquin Niemann are tied for the fourth position with a score of -4.
