"I kind of just stopped keeping it" - Paige Spiranac speaks about her handicap in her recent YouTube video
Recently, Paige Spiranac revealed that she had a 3.9 handicap, and it was the first time in a while that she had kept track of it for a whole year. In her latest YouTube video, she spoke about this in detail. She revealed that while she kept a handicap in junior golf and college since it was necessary for some events, she stopped keeping it after turning professional.
"Once I turned professional, I kind of just stopped keeping it, because it's not really important anymore, like, it doesn't really matter," she added.
She then spoke about how competitive golf took a toll on her and she was struggling under pressure.
"I really just did not enjoy competitive golf, and there are a bunch of reasons why, which we don't need to get into. I just had a lot of baggage, and my self-worth was so tied to the scores that I shot that it really impacted me emotionally," she added.
Paige Spiranac further stated that after retiring from competitive golf, her desire to practice faded away, and eventually she stopped keeping track of her scores for a long time. However, last year, she began keeping track of her scores again and started practicing more.
She continued:
"I wanted to practice, I wanted to get better, and so I really committed this last year to trying to improve my swing and improve my golf game, and to just enjoy it. And that's what I feel like I was able to do, which is really exciting," she concluded.
Paige Spiranac played professional golf until 2016, and since then, she has garnered a large following on social media, with over 4 million followers on Instagram, more than 1 million on TikTok, and around 1 million on X.
The 31-year-old former professional golfer has also done a photo shoot for Sports Illustrated magazine and was named Maxim's 'Sexiest Woman of the Year' in 2022.
