WATCH: Rory McIlroy hits huge drive at a course 6200 above sea level

After the FedEx St. Jude Championship, Rory McIlroy is in fifth place in the FedEx standings. Finishing inside the top 50 in the FedEx Standings, he has confirmed his spot at the BMW Championship. The BMW Championship will take place at Castle Pines Golf Club from August 22 to 25.

Before the tournament began, Rory McIlroy reached the venue and had a few practice rounds. On Tuesday, McIlroy shot one of the longest drives with an elevation of 6400 feet. The TaylorMade driver used for the shot was Qi10Driver. The clip of the shot was posted by TaylorMade’s X account, with the caption:

Before the BMW Championship, Rory McIlroy played at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, finishing T68 on the leaderboard. Max Homa was the only golfer under him on the leaderboard. In the opening round, McIlroy dropped an eagle on the third hole and had two birdies on holes 16 and 18. He also had two bogeys to finish up at 68.

In the second round, Rory McIlroy birdied the fifth and sixth holes and had bogeys on seventh, eighth, and sixteenth. He had a double bogey on the third to land at 73. McIlroy shot three birdies on the front nine and two bogeys in the third round. He also shot one bogey and two double bogeys on the back nine to end up at 74. He birdied the first hole, followed by a bogey on the fifth in the last round. Rory McIlroy had another bogey and one double bogey on the back nine to land at 74.
