Rory McIlroy stunned golf enthusiasts at the 2023 Genesis Scottish Open by carding a phenomenal 202-yard shot on the final hole. He was in a close race for victory at the event, competing neck-and-neck with Robert MacIntyre.

On the final hole of the fourth round, McIlroy's incredible shot from 202 yards with a 2-iron resulted in a birdie, securing a one-stroke victory over MacIntyre.

Rory McIlroy is finally returning to compete in professional tournaments after a three-week hiatus following his disappointing outing at the 2024 US Open. At the major, he was in contention to win, but an unfortunate shot led him to settle for second place.

Rory McIlroy has been playing fairly well this season. Although he struggled in the majors, he had decent outings in regular tournaments. He started the season on the DP World Tour and won the Hero Dubai Desert Classic by one stroke.

His PGA Tour outing began at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he tied for 66th place. He later played at The Genesis Invitational and finished in T24.

On the PGA Tour, he played in 14 events and registered victories in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans and the Wells Fargo Championship. However, he struggled in the majors this year, finishing T22 at the Masters and T12 at the PGA Championship. He was close to a win at the US Open but ended up with a solo second-place finish.

The 2024 Genesis Scottish Open will start with its first round on July 11 and conclude on Sunday, July 14, at The Renaissance Club.

It is important to note that following the Genesis Scottish Open, Rory McIlroy will head to the final major of the year, The Open Championship. The tournament will take place from July 18 to 21 at Royal Troon Golf Club.
