Rory McIlroy is currently competing in the 2024 BMW PGA Championship at the Wentworth Golf Club in Surrey, London. This is one of the most prestigious events on the DP World Tour, with prominent names like Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, Billy Horschel, and others in the field.
The final round of the 2024 BMW PGA Championship is underway, with McIlroy in contention to win the event. The Northern Irish golfer is two strokes behind the lead with six holes to play.
McIlroy's highlight on the final day so far is the monstrous drive on the 12th hole. The 35-year-old golfer stood on the 507-yard par five 12th hole with a driver in his hand, launched a monstrous drive, and managed to find the fairway to the left. He carried the ball for 325 yards and eventually holed out for birdie to reach -17 for the event.

Rory McIlroy says he has been on the accepting side this year
Rory McIlroy had a resonable season with two wins, a runner-up, and seven top-10 finishes. The golfer was in contention to win numerous events but choked whenever it mattered the most and missed out on at least three to four wins.
McIlroy said this has been a similar story with his career, and in this game, one has to be resilient.
"I think it's been a familiar story with my career. I have setbacks and I usually come back pretty well from them. Some are harder than others, obviously, but I think in this game you have to be resilient," McIlroy told the media after Round 3 at the 2024 BMW PGA Championship.
"You have to understand and recognize that you're going to lose a lot more than you win, and you have to be okay with that and you have to accept that. I've definitely been on that accepting side this year, but it's good to be back in the mix," he added.
Rory McIlroy won the BMW PGA Championship once in 2014 at the Wentworth Golf Club and revealed that he is a resident and is building a house here.
"Since I won here in 2014, I've had a few good chances 245 I've let slip by. Yeah, given myself another chance to win this championship. I'm basically a resident at Wentworth now. Building a house here, too. I love it here. It would be amazing to get my name on the trophy again," McIlroy said.
The 17-time DP World Tour champion has a chance to win as he is just a stroke behind the lead at -18 with four holes to play, while Thriston Lawrence and Billy Horschel are co-leading the event at -19.
