Watch: Scottie Scheffler has friendly chat with police officers at Valhalla, just hours after his arrest

On Friday, May 17, Scottie Scheffler was spotted in a friendly chat with the police officers present at the Valhalla Golf Club during the PGA Championship. What's interesting is that it happened just a few hours after he was arrested by the Louisville Metro Police Department.

Before the start of the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday morning, Scottie Scheffler was detained by the LMPD when he tried to bypass the traffic near the Valhalla Golf Club.

The reason behind the traffic was a fatal accident that had taken place earlier in the morning. Due to a miscommunication, officers detained the golfer, leading to chaos before the second round of the PGA Championship.

However, Scheffler was released after a few hours and was able to continue playing at Valhalla. It was expected that the golfer would be in a bitter mood due to the incident. However, despite finding himself in an unwanted situation with the police, he was seen having a friendly conversation with officers at the golf course.

In a clip shared by Christopher Powers, the World No. 1 golfer can be seen smiling and laughing with an officer and shaking hands with two of them. Here's the video:

Earlier, Scheffler was charged with reckless driving, misdemeanors and second-degree assault of a police officer. It was claimed that he was dragged by the golfer's car when he attempted to stop it, which led to some injuries, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following his second round of the PGA Championship, Scottie Scheffler thanked fans for supporting him. Fans had come in big numbers with 'Free Scottie' t-shirts and were making huge cheers for the World No. 1 golfer.

"It was really nice," he said. "The fans were tremendous today. I felt like they were cheering extra loud for me today. I really do -- I know sometimes you can't really see it on my face, but I really do enjoy playing in front of the fans. The support I've been getting the last few months out here has been tremendous, and I'm really grateful for it."

Scottie Scheffler is three strokes behind Xander Schauffele, who fired a 3-under 68 to finish the day at 12-under. The two-time major champion fired a 66 on Friday but will need to continue the performance to narrow the lead.

Collin Morikawa is solo second at 11-under, followed by Sahith Theegala at 10-under. Scheffler shares the fourth spot with Bryson DeChambeau, Mark Hubbard and Thomas Detry.
