Taylor Pendrith carded the first albatross in the history of The Sentry since 1999, when the event moved to Kapalua Resort. Pendrith made his spectacular play on Sunday (Jan. 5), during the final round of the 2025 edition.

The play occurred on the par-5, 520-yard 5th hole. Pendrith hit his tee shot 279 yards down the fairway, leaving the ball 203 yards from the hole. From there, he aimed for the pin with his second shot, and his execution was of such quality that the ball went straight into the hole.

The group in which Taylor Pendrith was playing was not included in the broadcast. However, the PGA Tour got a footage of the moment and posted it on its X account, which received more than 73,000 views in just 30 minutes.

According to the X PGA Tour Communications account, this is the first albatross achieved at The Sentry since the event moved to Kapalua Resort in 1999. It is also the 142nd albatross achieved on the PGA Tour since 1983.

In 2024, five albatrosses were reported during the PGA Tour season. Among them was Shane Lowry's at the Farmers Insurance Open, the first of his professional career.

A look at Taylor Pendrith's performance in The Sentry 2025

Taylor Pendrith recovered from a poor first round to work his way up the leaderboard. He maintained that pace into the final holes of the final round.

Pendrith opened with a two-under 71 that included four birdies and two bogeys. A day later he improved markedly, carding nine birdies and one bogey for an 8-under round.

On the so-called 'moving day', Taylor Pendrith carded an eagle, six birdies and two bogeys (6 under for the round). The performance left him in a share of 18th place.

However, it is in the final round that he made his biggest move up the leaderboard. This Sunday, the Canadian added two birdies and no bogeys to his albatross (through 12) and has climbed 13 spots up the leaderboard to sit in a share of 5th place at the end of the day.

Pendrith is making his debut at The Sentry in 2025. He qualified for the event by winning the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson, his first PGA Tour victory. He also finished in the top 50 in the FedEx Cup.

The Canadian began his professional career in 2014, but did not join the PGA Tour until 2022. He previously split his time between the PGA Tour Canada (where he won twice), the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, and the Korn Ferry Tour.

Pendrith has played 87 tournaments at the highest level, with 60 cuts and 14 top 10s, including his win. This includes a runner-up finish in the 2022 Rocket Mortgage Classic.
