Tiger Woods' mother Kultida recently attended the second TGL match at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on Tuesday, January 14. Woods competed for the first time in the match for Jupiter Links Golf Club. Their team went up against Justin Rose-led Los Angeles Golf Club.
In a video posted by the official page of TGL, Woods, dressed in a bright red golf shirt with white pants, could be seen preparing for a putt on the fifth hole. He lined up, took his shot and easily sank the putt.
After the putt, the camera shifted to Woods' mother Kultida who could be seen clapping and cheering with enthusiasm. TGL captioned the post:
"A must-make, made even better with Mom cheering on (heart emoji)"
The 81-year-old was seen in a red Sun Day Red sweatshirt. Sun Day Red, the golf apparel brand was started by Woods in 2024 after he ended his 27-year-old partnership with Nike. Woods credited his mother Kultida for the name of the brand. He said, via Golf Monthly:
"Sunday red - it’s me. It started with mom [Kultida]. She thought being a Capricorn that my power color was red, so I wore red as a junior golfer and I won some tournaments.
"Lo and behold, I go to a university that is red, Stanford is red. We wore red on the final day of every single tournament, and then every single tournament I’ve played as a professional I’ve worn red. It’s just become synonymous with me," he added.
Recently, Puma filed a lawsuit against Sun Day Red over its logo. Both the companies have "leaping feline" in their logos.
How did Tiger Woods perform in the 'singles' format in the second TGL match?
The second TGL match was between Tiger Woods-led Jupiter Links Golf Club and Justin Rose-led Los Angeles Golf Club at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
While Jupiter Links trailed 8-1 after the 'Triples' format, it couldn't do much in the 'Singles' as well. Tiger Woods tied his first Singles hole against Justin Rose. However, he couldn't win the second one.
Los Angeles Golf Club won the match comfortably with a score of 12-1. Talking about the TGL experience, Rose said, via TGL:
"I'm a guy on the golf course that’s very much, ‘quiet, please,’ ‘still, please,’ ... for me, this was very, very different. I think it’s actually gonna be good for me to deal with this.
"Your awareness is definitely keyed into the energy out there, what people are saying. You’re hearing it all. Then you’ve got to dial in and execute ... the rowdier, the more crazy it gets, then the more dialed in you have to be," he added.
The next match will be played between New York Golf Club and Atlanta Drive Golf Club on Tuesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. EST.
