Tiger Woods is known for his many achievements in golf, but his thoughts on every aspect of the sport have always been equally popular among fans. As a result, it is common for him to be asked for his opinion on any aspect of golf during interviews.

Such was the case when he shared his vision of why golf holds such fascination for amateur players. This video clip is circulating on all social media platforms with millions of views.

This is how Tiger Woods described the issue (via Tour Pro's X account):

"I think anyone who has ever played the game of golf can relate to us. I can’t relate to someone who can dunk from the foul line, or kick a soccer ball 60 yards in the air. I can’t relate because I can’t do that."

He added:

"They can relate to us as golfers because they can do that. They can make a six foot putt, they can hit a shot 100 yards and know how it feels to be nervous because there’s water, there’s bunkers, there’s trouble everywhere, they know how that feels."

He concluded:

"And so it is fascinating to people who have played the game on any level, whether they’re great at it, or terrible at it. It doesn't matter. It is fascinating because they can relate to what we’re going through and can see the internal struggles on our face. You’re trying to figure it out, because you’ve been there and you know how that feels."

Golf has a huge amateur movement. In the United States alone, 3.4 million people played traditional courses in 2023, and 123 million played some form of golf or watched golf events (National Golf Foundation data).

Tiger Woods has not limited himself to offering his golf-related opinions and advice in press interviews. The 15-time major champion has devoted much of his time to sharing his ideas and knowledge with anyone interested.

Woods wrote a golf advice column in Golf Digest for about 14 years. Remarkably, this phase of his career began in 1997, when the Big Cat had been a professional for just one year and was only 21 years old.

Also at a very young age, in 2001, Tiger Woods wrote and published a golf instruction book entitled "How I Play Golf". At the time, it was the longest-running golf book for a first edition, with 1.5 million copies in print.

Till date, Woods has published two other books, 'The 1997 Masters: My Story' and 'Unprecedented: The Masters and Me', both co-authored with Lorne Rubenstein. Since 2019, Tiger Woods has been expected to release another book, which is said to be titled 'Back', but so far no release date has been announced.
