Watch: Xander Schauffele shares first impressions of new Callaway driver

Xander Schauffele has been a part of Callaway's loyal tour roster for over seven years now. The nine-time PGA Tour winner took to the brand's YouTube platform to issue his first impressions on the newly released Elyte driver.

Callaway's Elyte driver is an all new driver with improved results from its highly successful AI Smoke line. Schauffele took to the driving range with Johnny Wunder to test out the weapon.

The crown of the driver is different compared to Callaway's past designs and features thermal forged carbon to make the club more aerodynamic. The AI Smart Face allows for more control over the ball flight with its forgiveness. Upon looking at the club for the first time, the TGL golfer was stunned by its finish.

Schauffele said (via YouTube 0:39 - 0:43):

"Nice sleek, clean look. Changing the crown to sort of all black. Love the crown. I think it looks sick."

The two-time major championship winner stated that the shape of the clubhead and the sound the club makes with ball contact are his main priorities when looking for a new driver. Schauffele's first swing with the driver was a miss-hit and came off the heel but still travelled a whopping 318 yards with a 189 mph ball speed and a spin rate of 2,676 rpm.

After hitting a few balls, the Olympian was left impressed by the numbers the driver delivered. He said (via YouTube 2:46 - 3:32):

"This is a pretty sweet spot. It's got about 11 and a half degrees of launch with 2,600 [rpm] spin rate...As far as recon goes, so far we're doing very very very well...That's a really nice match up."

The Elyte driver line up consists of six models - stock Elyte, Elyte X, Elyte Triple Diamond, Elyte Max Fast, Women's Elyte X, and Women's Elyte Max Fast.
