Fans on social media have reacted to Jon Rahm missing the cut at the PGA Championship 2024 following the second round on Saturday, May 18. The Spanish golfer struggled with his game at the Major, failing to score above the cutline of -1.

Jon Rahm finished with an even-par score after two rounds of 70 and 72, missing the cut by just one stroke. He was in incredible form last season, winning four events on the PGA Tour, including a Major at Augusta. However, later that year, he joined LIV Golf. In 2024, he struggled with his game at the Augusta event and then at the PGA Championship this week.

Following the round, Jon Rahm discussed his disappointing performance with LIV Golf editorial director Mike McAllister, who shared the same on his X account.

"Jon Rahm after finishing at even par (70-72) and projected outside the cut line #PGAChampionship: "Surprised. Surprised because of how I felt like I was hitting it in Australia and Singapore and in the week off before coming here, especially off the tee, hitting great drives – and that's what's been my downfall. I just couldn't find a fairway off the tee. You can make birdies off the fairway, but off the rough, it's a tough golf course to score on, and that's kind of what happened to me," tweeted McAllister.

Fans in the comments section, however, mocked the golfer's poor performance at the Major and blamed his switch to LIV Golf for this.

"Well $500 mil to fall back on is nice"- wrote a fan.

The comment was made about Jon Rahm's whopping deal with LIV Golf. He had reportedly inked a contract worth around $500 million with the Saudi Circuit.

"Bro forgot what competition was," commented another fan.
"Yep taking the money has its consequences. Brooks and Chambeau are clearly the exceptions. Rham is clearly conflicted with his decision," wrote a fan.
"This is what happens when you only play 4 tournaments in a year," noted a fan.

A quick recap of Jon Rahm's performance at 2024 PGA Championship

Jon Rahm started his game at the 2024 PGA Championship with a round of 70. He teed off on the first hole of the Valhalla Golf Course, making par on the opening hole. However, as the round progressed, he struggled to make a birdie on the first few holes. He shot a disappointing bogey on the second hole, followed by three consecutive bogeys from the fourth to the sixth holes.

Fortunately, he found some relief on the seventh hole with a birdie. Rahm played well on the back nine of the first round, shooting a birdie on the tenth, followed by a bogey on the next hole. He then made two pairs of consecutive birdies on the 13th, 14th, 17th, and 18th holes, resulting in a total score of one under par.

In the second round, Jon Rahm started on the tenth hole and shot a bogey on the 12th, followed by a birdie on the 13th. He carded two birdies, one bogey, and a double bogey on the front nine, a bogey, and a birdie on the back nine, finishing with a score of +1.

This resulted in a total of even par, causing him to miss the cut. Previously, Rahm played at the Masters in April 2024, finishing in a tie for 45th place after rounds of 73, 76, 72, and 76.

While Jon Rahm struggled at the event, his fellow LIV player Bryson DeChambeau maintained his spot in the top 10. DeChambeau was also impressive at the Masters 2024.
