The DP World Tour season is entering its International Swing. The tour's schedule is divided into regional sections, much like the PGA Tour.
The DP World Tour is an international tour as the name indicates.
This International Swing goes into six different countries, and it is named a World Tour to celebrate its global nature.
The tour's schedule for 2025 was only revealed a few weeks ago. It is broken down into three global swings, the back nine, and then the playoffs.
The first of the three global swings will begin in the United Arab Emirates with the Hero Dubai Desert Classic this weekend. Next up is a trip to the Al Hamra Golf Club for the Ras Al Khaimah Championship. Also in the Middle East are the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship and Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.
After one week off, the Magical Kenya Open begins in Africa. Three other events follow: the Investec South African Open Championship and the Joburg Open. That concludes the International Swing for 2025.
How the International Swing is played on the DP World Tour
Per the DP World Tour, every single event in the International Swing will be 72-hole strokeplay and all events will have a cut after 36 holes.
One thing that does change is the Race to Dubai. There are 8,000 'Race to Dubai' ranking points available at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, more than it usually has each year. It's a chance to start the year on the right foot.
There are 3,500 points up for grabs in Ras Al Khaimah, Bahrain, Qatar, and Kenya. The last two African events have 3,000 points. Thanks to a win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic in 2024 and a runner-up finish at the Dubai Invitational, Rory McIlroy was named the "winner" of the International Swing in 2024. He's back in action this weekend for the Hero Dubai Desert Classic as the defending champion.
Other PGA Tour stars like Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood, Robert MacIntryre, Akshay Bhatia, Ryan Fox, and Min Woo Lee will be in the field with McIlroy as well. Jon Rahm, an LIV Golf player, will play as well. Thomas Pieters, Tyrrell Hatton, Adrian Meronk, and Tom McKibbin will also see the course.
