Jon Rahm received good news from his wife Kelley Cahill on September 24, when the couple welcomed their third child. They named their daughter Alaia Cahill Rahm, which is a gender-neutral name.
Alaia refers to joy and happiness and primarily has a Basque origin. Rahm was born in the Basque Country in Spain. There's also a fashion brand named Alaia. Besides, the name means '(of) high status' or 'exaltation' in Arabic and 'virtuous' among Hindus.
Rahm also posted three pictures with his baby girl and wife on Instagram, informing the fans that both are healthy in the caption.
“So blessed to have welcomed our daughter Alaia Cahill into the world last week. Mama and baby girl are both healthy and doing great, I can't wait to get back home to them,” Jon Rahm wrote.
Jon Rahm and Kelley Cahill's first child, Kepa, was born in 2021, and their second son, Eneko, in 2022. The news of their first daughter came before the Open de Espana. As a result, the Spaniard missed the event’s Pro-Am. But he finally played the tournament and lost to Angel Hidalgo in a playoff.
Rahm had two triumphs this year, including the LIV Golf Individual title in Chicago with a score of 11-under 199.
Jon Rahm's thoughts behind naming his LIV Golf team ‘Legion XIII’
Jon Rahm's favorite comics, Asterix & Obelix, played a significant role in Legion XIII's naming, per LIV Golf.
The story follows the ancient Romans who tried to invade a French village multiple times, which was safeguarded by a magic spell. Despite the failures, the army or Legion XIII kept trying consistently and Rahm wanted such a level of dedication in his team so he named it accordingly.
Also, the ‘X’ in ‘XIII' represents the captain, and the ‘III’ represents the members of Legion XIII. Another aspect that inspired Rahm to name his team was the historical fact that Legion 13 helped Julius Caesar return to Rome. Rahm wanted the faithfulness Legion 13 showed for Caesar to prevail in his team.
The lion's face on the team's logo also has an explanation to it. The Spaniard’s favorite soccer team is Spain's Athletic Bilbao, members of which are also called the Lions. Thus, he felt the logo fits his team. A lion is widely associated with bravery and courage and Jon Rahm also wanted these qualities to be prevalent in his team.
