The Farmers Insurance Open has all eyes on it this weekend. As one of the few professional golf tournaments happening right now with LIV Golf and the LPGA Tour still in the final days of their respective offseason, much of the golf this weekend is happening at Torrey Pines.

The tournament is a standard PGA Tour event. It's not a Signature Event, so it has a cut. That means that after two rounds, roughly half of the golfers will continue on to rounds three and four. The other half gets an early weekend but no chance at a slice of the prize purse.

The cut in any golf tournament is flexible. It depends on how everyone does. There is no set line that stays static. It's dynamic, and it's subject to change up until the very last hole is played by the very last golfer in round two.

Right now, the projected cut line is even. According to Data Golf, there is currently a 68% that breaking even means making the cut this weekend. It is still late in the first round, though, so it's subject to change quickly.

An alternative option is +1. That cut line has a 22.7% chance of being the final line. -1 is also an option, as Data Golf gives that a 9% chance of being the final number. Those are the only three options, and they're subject to change.

That means that players in that range will want to play better in round two to get away from the possible line. That includes JJ Spaun, Dylan Wu, Danny Willett, Adam Schenk, Austin Eckroat and more.

11 players withdrew from Farmers Insurance Open before tee time

Today is the first round of the Farmers Insurance Open, but the field that took the course today looks very different from the one planned at the beginning of the week. Since the field was initially announced, 11 golfers have withdrawn.

Some of the biggest names in the field have stepped out for various reasons. Will Zalatoris, Gary Woodland, Nicolai Højgaard, Collin Morikawa, Tyler McCumber, Mackenzie Hughes, Akshay Bhatia, Chesson Hadley, Harry Hall and Bronson Burgoon have all withdrawn from the field over the last few days.

Morikawa had flu-like symptoms. The tournament is also being held at Torrey Pines, which is the new location for the Genesis Invitational as Riviera is unavailable due to the LA wildfires.

There's speculation that players don't want to play the same course twice in such a short time span, and that's possibly why they pulled out. Whatever the reason, 11 players, a nearly unprecedented number, pulled out. That included the highest-ranked player in the Farmers Insurance Open field in Morikawa (World No. 5 right now).
