Team USA, featuring stellar players including Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, and others, won the 2024 Presidents Cup on Sunday, September 29, at The Royal Montreal Golf Club. The team secured an easy victory, maintaining their winning streak. This marks their tenth consecutive win in the tournament.
However, the players did not receive any prize money. Like the Ryder Cup, the Presidents Cup does not award its players for winning the prestigious event. They compete solely to represent their country/region and for the love of the game. Although players do not receive prize money, the tournament raises funds for charitable causes.
According to the official tournament website, more than $56.4 million has been generated for charitable purposes through the event since its inception in 1994. The President Cup made a $100,000 donation to the Montreal Canadiens Children’s Foundation during the 2024 edition.
"Players are not paid for their participation, but each competitor allocates an equal portion of the funds generated to charities of his choice. Since the inception of the Presidents Cup in 1994, more than $56.4 million has been generated from event proceeds. Over the past 25 years, the Presidents Cup has impacted more than 475 charities in 18 countries worldwide," as per the official Presidents Cup website.
By winning the 2024 Presidents Cup, Scottie Scheffler and other Team USA players were awarded a trophy.
