Legendary golfer Tiger Woods made his first hole-in-one at the age of eight. It came in the early 1980s when the American played at the Heartwell Golf Course in Long Beach. On the 12th hole, he shot an impressive hole-in-one.
Tiger Woods carded a total of 20 holes-in-one throughout his career, including three of them in PGA Tour events. His maiden hole-in-one on the PGA Tour came in 1996, the year he turned pro, at the Greater Milwaukee Open. It was his debut tournament as a professional, and the American stole the show with his impressive hole-in-one on the par-3 14th hole.
The following year, Woods made another hole-in-one at the Phoenix Open, using a 9-iron, acing the par-3 16th hole. His third ace on the PGA Tour came at the Sprint International in 1998.
Tiger Woods opened up about his first ace, which he made at the age of eight, in one of his interviews in 2018. He said (via Golf Monthly):
"I hit it and was too short to see it. So the ball carries the bunker, it rolls into the hole. Everybody in my group celebrates but me. I can’t see that high. So, one of the guys picks me up, shows me there’s no ball on the green. I’m excited – I run to the green, pick the ball out of the hole and I’m celebrating. And the kids came down and said: ‘You idiot, your golf bag’s up on the tee.’ So I had to go back up and get my golf bag."
His last, which was his 20th hole-in-one, came while playing with his son Charlie and professional golfer Fred Couples in a friendly match in 2018 at the Madison Club in La Quinta.
Tiger Woods' son Charlie makes his first hole-in-one at PNC Championship
Following in the footsteps of his father, 15-year-old Charlie Woods, son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, shot his first hole-in-one at the recently concluded PNC Championship. Young Woods was phenomenal on the par-3 fourth hole of the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club and hit an ace from 175 yards. He played with a 7-iron.
Charlie played alongside his father in the tournament, and the legendary golfer witnessed his son achieving the rare feat, subsequently hugging him.
Following the event, during the press conference, Tiger Woods reflected on his son's hole-in-one and said (via ASAP Sports):
"We heard it up on the green on the right and left but we were totally unsure until the TV confirmed it. And we went nuts. I don't know what we did but we enjoyed it. It was an unbelievable moment. I was talking to Todd out there, and that two-hole stretch, that was his first eagle he ever made out there on 3, and then his first hole-in-one."
Tiger Woods and his son Charlie were in contention to win the 2024 PNC Championship. The two led after the first round and were even playing well in the second round on Sunday, December 22. They tied for the lead after 36 holes at 28 under with team Langer but ultimately lost in the playoff and settled in second place.
