Tiger Woods didn’t have a good start to The Open Championship 2024. The 15-time major champion carded an 8-over 79 on Thursday and sat T138 on the leaderboard. He will start round two in danger of missing the Friday cut for a third straight time at the competition.

Woods will tee off round two of the Open Championship at 4:25 am ET al alongside Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. The 15x major champion will follow the pairings of Wyndham Clark, Hideki Matsuyama and Brooks Koepka, teeing off at 4:14 am.

Meanwhile, the grouping of Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns and Si Woo Kim will follow him on the first tee at 4:36 am ET.

Tiger Woods had a decent start on Thursday at the 152nd Open Championship. The ace golfer, who’s won the competition thrice before, began round one with two straight pars followed by a birdie. He enjoyed a subtle fist pump moment at the par-4 third.

However, he soon began struggling as he played his next five holes in 5 over, including a double bogey at the par-3 fifth. The 48-year-old closed with consecutive bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 for 79, while Schauffele scored 69 and Cantlay carded 73 from his group.

Following the round, Woods stated that he “didn't do a lot of things right” and addressed the fact that he “need to shoot something in the mid-60s” on Friday. As of The Open Championship Friday’s start, Woods is en route to missing the cut in the $17,000,000 prize competition.
